Leaving & Arriving

You and your dogs must remain in your vehicle until it is your turn to use the field. Allowing dogs out of cars in the car park area when the previous user is in the field could have consequences for nervous and/or reactive dogs.

Make sure both gates are closely firmly when you are in session with your dog(s).

For an exclusive use session never enter the field while somebody else is in it.

If the previous appointment is still in the field when your booking starts, please inform us immediately.

Once the field is vacated, you can use the gate code to access the secure field. Gently close the gate behind you and lock it.

Double Gate System: on leaving the field, please always lock the outer gate, even if someone is waiting to come in. This is to ensure that only authorised users can access the facility. Never divulge your passcode to anyone.

Our double gate system code is changed regularly to prevent unauthorised users.

Do's and Don'ts

Do not drop litter or leave toys or uneaten treats in the field. Dogs may swallow them and become ill so please take everything home with you at the end of your session.

No smoking anywhere on site.

No grooming anywhere on site.

If dogs wish to dig, encourage them to use the digging pit provided. Any holes dug outside of the pit must be refilled and reported for safety and security reasons.

There must always be a ratio of no more than 3 dogs to 1 adult.

If you wish to share your slot with friends it is your responsibility to ensure that they read and agree to these Terms of Use. Please ensure that all dogs get along before bringing them to the facility.

Etiquette

Île aux Chiens is a safe and peaceful retreat for everybody. Please give people and dogs plenty of space. Any disrespectful behaviour will lead to refusal of future use.

During our Mixed Group Play Sessions when dogs are accompanied with their owners (Saturdays from 11-12) no food, treats or toys are allowed inside the secure field area, as this may cause problems between dogs.

Please respect our neighb
ours’ privacy. Île aux Chiens is not affiliated with neighbouring residential properties. Please do not enter their land.

Île aux Chiens Park is situated on a small Permaculture farmstead. Prevailing weather conditions could result in additional hazards. No responsibility will be taken by the landowners for damage or injury sustained to property, individuals or animals whilst using Île aux Chiens Park or anywhere on the La Ferme du Moulin des Monts premises.

There are sometimes livestock in the adjoining field throughout the year, please do not book if this will be a problem for your dogs.

Although Île aux Chiens is intended to be a safe space for all dogs with behavioural issues, it is a condition that dogs who exhibit excessive, persistent patterns of barking behaviour will be restricted from using the facility.

Dog trainers or behaviourists or working with their clients will only be allowed by prior arrangement and must provide evidence of their insurance prior to booking or on arrival.

Professional dog walkers are welcomed by prior arrangement.

We do not take any responsibility for any dog escaping from Île aux Chiens Park.

Doggie Games

Please arrive 5/10 mins prior to the Games starting. Once the Games have started then no more dogs can be introduced.

Each dog must wear a collar (not a harness as dogs can easily escape from them, yes they are escape artists)

Dogs should eat their breakfast at least 2 hours before the Games or they should be fed after the Games (risk of being sick and/or stomach torsion)

Females on heat will not be allowed to participate in the Games (so they don't get harassed by the boys)

Any dog with injuries will not be allowed to participate in the Games (they should rest up at home ready for the following week)

Any dog that displays repetitive undesired behaviours may go on "Time Out" (aka: for a short walk to clear their mind) before being allowed back in. If the behaviour continues the dog will be removed and you will be asked to collect your dog.

Any dog that presents aggressive behaviour during the Games will be removed and you will be contacted to come and collect your dog.

Please remain reachable by phone during the duration of the Games.

Any dog that does not seem fit to participate in the Games will not be able to participate (dogs wellbeing comes first policy).

Equipment

Île aux Chiens is not liable for any death, damage, injury or loss to any person or animal while using the facility or the equipment within it, or to any third party as a result of any person or dog.

Dogs under 18 months old are restricted from using the Adventure Play equipment due to their developing growth plates.

Before using the facility or the equipment within it, visit the vet to ensure that dogs are physically fit and strong enough to perform activities.

Do not use equipment in wet or icy conditions as surfaces become slippery.

Dogs must never be picked up and placed on obstacles. When using equipment above ground level dogs must wear a harness so that they can be supported during the exercise.

Never push dogs to do anything that they are not physically or mentally capable of. Allow dogs to go at their own pace and always let them choose whether they want to do it or not. Ensure dogs warm up properly first.

Children are welcome in Île aux Chiens Park but must be supervised by an adult at all times. The ‘fun’ areas – obstacles, jumps, tyres, ramps etc, are designed and built to be used by dogs only, not adults or children to climb on. If caught using them, we reserve the right to end the booking. The owners will not take any responsibility for any injury to humans or animals caused by using said equipment.

Health & Welfare

Do not bring your dog to the field if they are or have been unwell in the last 48 hours. Doing so could be harmful to other dogs.

Do not bring dogs that are in season to the park please.

Never leave dogs unattended in the field and no dogs to be left in vehicles while you walk / play with other dogs in the field.

A first aid kit is located in the open barn area.

Please monitor the weather forecast and assess whether you and your dog will be comfortable in the weather that is forecast for your session. We are an outdoor facility exposed to the elements; in winter the ground will be muddy and slippery, if it’s sunny it will be hot. We strongly advise you to cancel your appointment 24 hours in advance if the weather is not suitable for you.

Appropriate footwear is required when visiting Île aux Chiens Dog Park.

When booking autumn and winter appointments search ‘sunset time + date’ online to check daylight hours. You will need to bring a torch.

Privacy

Île aux Chiens is committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected. We hold your personal information in order to provide you with a service and keep you informed about our dog park. Your name is needed to track payments and your email address is needed to send you the gate access code. You have the option to opt out of emails at any time. We will never pass your information to any third party. By processing your booking, you consent to us using your personal information in the above ways.
